About BlakeVille and Blake Is this for real?
The question I am often asked is whether or not BlakeVille exists.
Let me set the record straight.
Of course…
Artist Statement by Blake
BlakeVille combines two of my favorite hobbies, photography and model building with a healthy dose of dark humor tossed in. I’m not trying to make a statement or trying to alter the viewer’s point of view. I only want people to look at the dioramas and photographs and enjoy them, they are meant to be fun!
The Dioramas What goes into them
Blake, the photographer, creates these models based on real-life scenes he’s seen while traveling in his hometown, BlakeVille. He uses materials from the HO Scale Model Railroad industry or makes them himself. The HO Scale Model Railroad industry has thousands of tiny details, buildings, figures, and accessories that are made to look like what you’d see during the golden age of train travel. Blake uses these items to create his own unique, “warped” version of real life.
The Photograher Blake
Blake’s origin within working life as an adult was as a semi-successful slightly mediocre commercial photographer, a field he really had no business working in and it showed. Blake’s real passion was art photography, but, well, try to make a living within that field as a bipolar agoraphobic introvert. He spent 10 years doing mostly industrial photography and a bit of architectural photography, until the internet came along.
He was immediately drawn into this industry as it was the perfect fit for his personality type. All he had to do was keep his head down, write code and he has been doing this since those early days.
Now back to the art photography that Blake always wanted to get into. After years of tinkering around with various concepts he discovered “The Town The World Forgot”, BlakeVille.
The rest is history that hasn’t been written yet.
